Shannon Shore, LCSW,LICSW serving NC, VA and Washington, DC I specialize in how ADHD and Anxious thinkers see the world…
You want to do life differently but you don’t know how to get started.
You’re in the right place.
You might be asking yourself, why should I choose Shannon, what does she have that other therapists do not. This is a great and important question? The therapeutic relationship is paramount to an individual's success in implementing change in their life. Simply put…if you don’t trust me then you will not try the strategies we talk about.
I’m not sure if I choose to concentrate my practice with ADHD/Anxious thinkers or if ADHD and Anxious thinkers have chosen me over the years. In my career as a Social Worker I spent the early years working with children and adolescents and seeing their struggles academically and their parents struggles with parenting to meet their kids needs.
Over time this led to me changing my professional philosophy on ADHD and Anxiety. We know that both of these thinking patterns are rooted in how our brain is wired, so instead of completely rewiring our brain why don’t we start working with it.
I work with adults who have tried all the neurotypical ways to manage their ADHD and anxious thinking patterns. We work to process the messages they internalized as children and release those negative emotions. While building new patterns of behavior that work with their executive functioning.
During our time together I will provide you with strategies to increase your feelings of control over your thinking patterns.
I want you to know that helping you is my passion. Not only am I a therapist who works with ADHD and Anxious thinkers. I am a wife and mother of ADHD thinkers and I myself lean towards being an Anxious thinker. The strategies that I will provide you are ones that I have implemented myself and with my family.
Therapy with me isn’t all sitting & talking.
We’ll also work on real, practical skills that you can apply to your day-to-day life.
My core values
Our core values are the deeply ingrained principles that guide our actions serving as a cornerstone of our lives. By understanding our core values we are able to find more meaningful ways to engage with those around us. As it relates to the practice of therapy my core values are authenticity, adaptability and uniqueness
Authenticity
When you come to session I want you to feel as though you are being true to your own personality, values and spirit. Only through being your authentic self will you be able to make the changes in your life that you desire.
Adaptability
By being able to adjust to new situations, I am able to meet each of my clients where they are in their journey and work with them to increase their ability to adapt to the challenges that present in their lives.
