FAQ

  • I reside in North Carolina in the Lake Norman area. However, I provide psychotherapy to individuals residing in NC, VA, DC, and IN.

  • We adhere to a 24 hour cancellation policy. The time slot you have scheduled is reserved for you. When an appointment is made, it takes an available slot away from another person wanting sessions. Not canceling in a timely manner restricts my ability to make the appointment available to another person. For these reasons, I have a strict no-show/late cancellation policy. Your credit card on file will be charged the full session fee for any session missed or not canceled at least 24 hours in advance.

  • One advantage of virtual session is the ability to do therapy from anywhere you have privacy to talk. However, in order for your session to take place you are required to physically be located in one of the jurisdictions where I hold a license. If I suspect you are not physically in a jurisdiction where I hold a license, I have the right to ask for verification of your location prior to providing services.

  • My practice is 100% virtual. While there are numerous benefits to virtual session . There are times when virtual psychotherapy is not appropriate. These include:

Complex mental health diagnoses, examples include visual and/or auditory hallucinations recent suicidal or homicidal thoughts.

    • Those 17 years old or younger.

    • Those with poor Internet connection.

    • Those with a lack of privacy.

If during the consultation I do not clinically think that virtual sessions are clinically appropriate I will advise you at that time. Additionally, if at any point during the therapeutic process, I determine it is not clinically appropriate to continue with virtual sessions you will be advised and referred to other treatment providers who provide In-Person sessions.

  • I have partnered with Alma which allows me to bill the following insurance companies as an In-network provider, United Health Care, Aetna, and Cigna. Additionally for individuals residing in North Carolina, I have partnered with Headway to be an In-Network provider with Blue Cross and Blue Shield.

For all those utilizing insurance benefits copays and deductible payments will be processed through the Alma or Headway platforms.

If your insurance differs from one of those listed above, your plan may offer Out-of Network benefits where you will receive reimbursement for a part of the fee. Superbills are provided for OON benefits. Please know that the letter does not guarantee that your insurance company will reimburse you.

  • All major credit/debit cards including FSA and HSA.

For those utilizing insurance your payment will be processed through Alma (Cigna, United Health and Aetna plans) and Headway (Blue Cross Blue Shield plans).

  • I understand that paying out of pocket for counseling/coaching services can be costly. I do offer limited spaces for those who need a reduced fee due to lack of insurance coverage.

  • The frequency we meet will depend on a couple of factors. During our first session, I will complete an evaluation and develop a treatment plan that will guide our time together. Part of the treatment plan will be how frequently we meet. Ideally, we will meet weekly for 4 to 6 weeks and then reduce to every other week for a period of time before reducing to 1 time per month prior to discharge.

  • The first session's structure is different from the rest because during this session, I will complete an evaluation and treatment plan. It is my goal for the evaluation to not feel highly structured and clinical. As part of this session, you will complete an Intake packet including Financial Agreement, Consent to Treat, Practice Policies, self-evaluations of symptoms, and information related to any past experiences. I request the Intake Packet be completed 48 hours prior to the appointment. This allows me time to review your information and determine if there are additional screening tools I want you to complete. During our time together I will complete a Genogram (detailed family tree). This allows me to gather information regarding your family of origin and current familial relationships.

After the evaluation, we will process situations that have happened in between sessions, I will provide you with psychoeducation on different skills based on your therapy goals, and review any homework. Each week you will receive a text message reminder for your appointment. You will be prompted to send me any specific topics you want to discuss, prior to our session.

I am ready to meet you.
